Young Farmers Ambassadors Award - £700

 

Would you like to travel abroad and study a subject of your choice?   The Young Farmers Ambassadors offer you the opportunity to do so, all you have to do is decide what you would like to study and where to go.

Previous award winners have chosen to study a wide variety of topics, e.g. prawn rearing in the Philippines, food trade in Switzerland, agricultural machinery in Canada, floristry in the Netherlands, teaching in Australia, attending & presenting at the International World Association of the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (WAAVP) conference in Argentina – to name but a few.

Here’s how to apply:

  1. Choose a subject to study and the country you would like to visit.  The subject chosen should be of benefit to you, your career, an industry, a locality or to Scotland itself.   Visits should be a minimum of 3 weeks to six months duration.

  2. Complete an application form, which is available from SAYFC or the YFA Secretary

  3. Candidates will be called for an interview to outline what he/she proposes to study, to indicate the length of their visit and to give details of their project.

  4. The successful applicant will receive an Award of £700 and on returning from their trip, will be required to submit a detailed written report to the YFA and to give a presentation at the YFA Annual General Meeting

  5. The successful applicant will automatically become a member of YFA – membership will be free in the year of the Award

  6. This Award is open to full and associate members of SAYFC and to members of YFA

  7. Successful and unsuccessful applicants are still eligible to apply to SAYFC for Exchange trips.
